HMWPV - High Mobility Wheeled Patrol Vehicle - GZG Armed Mini-Mule

Painted up this guy yesterday.

I really like it! Which means, of course, I'll have to get a couple more some day :)

I can see it patrolling streets, or even colony worlds.  Lightly armored, but with a heavy machine gun, it provides heavy firepower support quickly where it's needed.

It can also keep up with my Motorbike unit, providing some nice support for them.

Workbench: New Arrivals from GZG!

I got my replacement part from GZG, and a bunch of goodies!! (Along with an order from Khurasan Miniatures...)

Mini-Mule 6 wheel light buggy with autocannon mount (with NAC driver/gunner figures).

Heavy Plasma Cannon on groundmount, with UNSC/L gunner

NAC "Halftrike" light load carrier, supplied with driver, gunner and two alternative weapons.

Light Crawler with Pickup Bed and Optional Improvised Armoured Bed from Khurasan Miniatures
(A much better casting than the original, no print lines at all. I wanted one more but he was out!)

Gauntlet IIT Hover MICV Turretted version of Gauntlet APC, supplied with 3 gun options included

Heavy Autocannon (with NAC gunner)

I really like this stuff, and I can't wait to prime it all tomorrow and get working on it!!

I put this together for a little fun...

I'd like to do some type of video AAR, so this is kinda a test.  Please let me know what you think!

A Title Screen Preview of my upcoming scenario...

I'm going to be putting together a scenario for my and Flick's Gruntz Campaign.

I've created a little video teaser to start it off:

I hope to do a whole cool video AAR, but we'll start with this :)

It was pretty straightforward to make, since I found out powerpoint can save the shows as WMV.

Please let me know what you think!

PREVIEW: Critical Mass Games previews new Star Marines

The CMG twitter feed put up some very interesting previews of their newest mercenary faction, Star Marines:

Great looking stuff!  For some reason they remind me of this:

But I'm sure that's just a coincidence :)

OH! And they have some awesome tanks coming out:

How could you NOT like those?  Very much looking forward to these.

Camera Setup

Hi All,

Here are a couple of pictures showing my photo setup:

The Top light gives a nice overall lighting of the scene.  The lights in front are at the same level of the miniature.  This allows for all the areas to be filled in.  I wasn't using any reflectors or anything to soften the light so I simply pulled the lights further back.  This allowed it to diffuse a bit.

Here is a different view.

I like to separate my background from the miniature enough so that I get a slight blurring of the background from the depth of field.

Never leave a man behind...

This came in the GZG NAC medic pack.  I finally "discovered" it and after looking at it for a bit I really liked it.  It's a wounded soldier being helped back to the base by his brother-in-arms.

I spent a couple of nights finishing it, and i'm pretty happy how it turned out.

First off let my apologies for the delay in posting the paint up of the lava field build. A slight hardware failure with my camera has caused me to delay the project, I will finish and post this Friday. I have managed to start some of the power armor Mr. Harold seems to be so concerned about.

Some new fighter craft inbound...

Ordered these from Japan:

http://www.hlj.com/product/ban967079

And

They look pretty awesome, and are listed as 1/100 scale.  It was about $30 including shipping, so a pretty good deal!

I'll be posting when I receive them and as I work on them, i'm pretty excited though!  I'm going to need more firepower to take out Flick's new power armor...

"What's on the Paint Desk?" Friday - Casualties markers and Heavy Weapons

I've got a couple of things I'm painting up right now...

First off is a group of 6 casualty markers from GZG. These are great, they are NAC troopers and they can be used as waxed tokens for gruntz, or even as details in a scenario.

I have two painted up already and i'm working on these six.  I have another six to paint after.  They come in 9 to a pack, so I ended up with a bit!

I'm also working on some heavy weapon specialists.  I like the heavy grenade launcher weapon, so I ordered a pack.  For the base I just cut a circle out of thick plasticard.  I didn't have any washers around and pennies were too small.  I'm going to stop by a hardware store tomorrow and stock up on washers.

Anyways, these guys are pretty cool!

I was also going to work on my gun emplacement but unfortunately I received two parts that were the bases by mistake and didn't get the chair for the gun.

I e-mail Jon over at GZG and he was very nice and I asked if I could put in a small order since he was shipping me something anyways.  I ordered the new Gauntlet APC with a turret and the mule fast attack thing:

(A heavy weapon to go along with my trikes!)

(I love these hover designs, I have one as a SWAT vehicle, and two as Combat Cars [open topped]. I figured a IFV would be a great addition for when my troops can't fly in)

Well, since the part was so small, and the stuff I ordered is pretty heavy I felt bad that Jon was going to have to foot the whole bill for shipping, so I offered to pay my part of the shipping.   Jon ended up only charging me a couple of pounds for shipping (hooray!) AND he threw in a free NAC mini that was just released.  I don't know what it is, but it matches my troopers and it's brand new!  He said he literally just got it out of the new mold.

Well, I did see on Dropship Horizon the new GZG previews (http://dropshiphorizon.blogspot.com/2012/10/gzg-previews-new-15mm-science-fiction.html
and this was the only new NAC thing:

So I'm going to hope it's that!

NEWS: Four Color Studios Launches Miniatures Poll for Ghosts of Hefei

Noticed this on Tabletop Gaming news:

Four Color Studios Launches Miniatures Poll for Ghosts of Hefei
October 8th, 2012
Four Color Studios has a poll up asking which part of Ghosts of Hefei they should work on first. Let your opinion be heard.

From the poll:
As we prepare to launch our Kickstarter, we would like to reach out and ask the gaming public which miniature set they would like to see produced with the initial Kickstarter goal. All of the games factions can be produced through stretch goals but the poll will determine the order we produce them in.
And if you are a 15mm fan, there is an option to vote for the whole range to be produced in 15mm!

I really liked The Department, and the small range of figures produced for it, it's be great if they continued their 15mm range!

Just in case you guys want to vote in the poll, it's the last option:

Which figure set should the Ghosts of Hefei Kickstarter Fund first? (Concept Art Below)
Tongs
Yakuza
Russians
Iranians
All of the above in 15mm

I'm also looking forward to their kickstarter... I really liked The Department and was kicking myself for missing that Kickstarter, so i'll be contributing this time!

City Flyover - Two Squads in Falcons

Two squads embarked in Xeonic Falcon-Class VTOLs conduct a patrol over the city...

The Falcon-Class VTOL is armed with two Anti-Surface/Anti-Air missiles on each pylon and an AI-controlled Friend-or-Foe automatic loading 20mm cannon.

Each Falcon-Class VTOL can transport 6 + Crew and a variety of drones up to 1000km at 200kph.

Snip Snip - Berets Reduced in new Commandos!

Well,

After looking at the berets a little more, and a couple of mushroom comments, I've modified my commando:

I found a couple of pictures for reference, then I simply snipped around with clippers and smoothed with a file.

I'm very happy with the results, what do you guys think?

TMP Exchange Received...

I got these great minis from Psyckosama

These are great!  It's a Necromancer/evil-wizard and his evil zombie minions!

Fast Attack - Recon Squad

Painted up some GZG NAC Bikers...

I really like the bikes, not too outlandish or anything, really fits.

The riders were cast a little funny, and the molds must be wearing down a bit as the detail isn't all too crisp, but otherwise very nice little models!

Red Beret Cityfighters - Better Pics

Since Flick was giving me a hard time about the last pictures I posted, here are some better ones:

Current Workbench - Red Berrets, Robot Support

Got a new package from Khurasan Miniatures today...

Here is the start to my Red Berets, city fight specialists :

I like them because they remind me of the old school imperial guard storm troopers!

And my new squad support:

Each ground squad will get a ED-9000 Robot support system, with either a micro-missile launcher, or built in SAW.
